Ukrainian folk dancing is a vibrant and colorful expression of Ukraine's rich cultural heritage. Rooted in centuries-old traditions, it is not just a form of entertainment but a living narrative of the Ukrainian people's history, social life, and customs. The dances vary widely across the country, with each region offering its unique style, steps, and music, reflecting the local identity and traditions. These dances often tell stories, celebrating the joys of life, the changing seasons, or historical events, connecting performers and audiences to their ancestors and the land. Enjoy this class with director Carrie (Tkacz) Lang and members of Tsvitinnya’s North Carolina Ukrainian Dance Ensemble. The ensemble, launching in January 2023, is the inaugural group of its kind. Tsvitinnya's dancers range from the ages of 5 to 13 and are children and grandchildren of Ukrainian natives spanning from the Western and Eastern parts of Ukraine. Ukrainian dancing gives us the opportunity to connect and celebrate our brave, and resilient heritage. Slava Ukraini.
