Held in honor of W. Dallas Herring — whose transformative vision and tireless work culminated in the inception of North Carolina’s community colleges — the annual lecture invites community college leaders from across the country to speak on urgent and emerging topics, framing how to address the issues and proposing a path forward.

The 2023 Dallas Herring Lecture will feature Falecia D. Williams, president of Prince George’s Community College, as the event’s keynote speaker.

At the event, community college leaders and educators from around the country will have the opportunity to talk about strategies to address top issues concerning institutions, such as the enrollment boom and evolving structures due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In her presentation, Williams will provide a framework for transforming the structure of how community colleges work, including initiatives that aim to inspire attendees.
