This event is part of "Sharing Ground," a joint NC State–Duke seminar exploring how the humanities can deepen our understanding of academic freedom and the university’s role in sustaining democratic life. Bringing together scholars, students and academic leaders, the seminar asks how humanistic inquiry can foster principled disagreement and a more vibrant culture of free inquiry on campus.

This event features a moderated conversation between two prominent voices in debates about higher education: Wesleyan University President Michael Roth and Princeton Professor Robert P. George. They will discuss urgent questions about the current state of academic freedom, the responsibilities of universities, and how institutions can sustain meaningful disagreement in a polarized moment.
