The Advanced Teaching Certificate (ATC), a program for NC State graduate students and postdocs, builds on and extends the work accomplished in the Basic Teaching Certificate program. The Basic Teaching Certificate program is a prerequisite for the ATC. The ATC is a cohort-based experience that meets weekly for several weeks. The sessions have two major forms of engagement:

• Seminar discussions of articles that present research-based frameworks and strategies of effective teaching
• Application of those frameworks and strategies through activities such as micro-teaching demonstrations and creating lesson plans

Students receive a digital certificate and notation on their academic transcript when they complete the ATC.
