Please join the Data Science and AI Academy for the AI @ NC State Hot Topic series, an opportunity for people curious about artificial intelligence to network with experts, scholars and practitioners. Each month, a small group from industry and academia explores a new topic in AI research, ethics and practice.

Please join us for our upcoming discussions on April 16 and May 15.

The topic for the April 16 session is "AI, Cognition and Advanced Materials: Engineering the Future of Transportation." A panel will delve into the future of transportation, exploring how human-centered AI, informed by cognitive psychology, can create safer and more efficient mobility experiences. The panel will also examine the critical role of advanced materials and manufacturing, with a focus on integrating AI into the development of high-performance components for next-generation transportation systems.

The topic for the May 15 session is "Humanities in the Loop." Generative AI is already affecting how we write, read, invent, analyze and communicate. Understanding and ethically steering these changes requires domain expertise from humanities disciplines. A panel will explore the impact of AI on humanities research and education and how humanities perspectives can inform AI policy and development in other domains.
