The AI Hot Topics monthly networking series is a dynamic forum designed to foster dialogue and collaboration on the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence. Whether you’re a seasoned AI practitioner, a curious scholar or simply interested in the transformative potential of AI, this series offers a unique opportunity to connect with leading experts and contribute to meaningful discussions.

The topic for the January forum will be AI in Textile and Apparel. Minyoung Suh, an associate professor at the Wilson College of Textiles at NC State, will moderate the forum.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly expanding from the factory floor to the digital storefront, fundamentally reshaping the textile and apparel industry. This dynamic industry sector, traditionally reliant on manual processes and long supply chains, is now being supercharged by machine learning, computer vision and predictive analytics. A panel of leading experts will share how they dissect the reality and potential of AI in the fashion ecosystem.  The panelists are:

  • Byoungho Jin, the Albert Myers Distinguished Professor and the founder and executive director of the Fashion and Textile Business Excellence Cooperative at the Wilson College of Textiles
  • David Bruner, chief technology officer at Size Stream
  • Neel Patel, Lead AI web developer at the Prometheus Group
