Professor Gulling joined the faculty at North Carolina State University in 2012. Her teaching experience and research are at the intersection of building technology and design. One of the things that sets Prof. Gulling apart from other designers is her belief that building technology can lead design instead of serving design. Building technology has led the design process in her research, creative work, and teaching innovations. By placing more emphasis on the making process in the beginning of design, architects can have great influence in the research of new materials, assemblies, fabrication methods, and building systems.
