Ballet teacher Oliver Beres will lead a class that will focus on the Vaganova technique with a blend of Balanchine style. The class will work on placement, technique and turnout, with a strong emphasis on musicality. The session will begin with intermediate barre work, starting at plies and finishing with grand battements. Center exercises and across-the-floor combinations that will incorporate a mix of adagio, turning combinations and jumping will also be part of the session.

Béres was born in Hungary and began his dance training in 1996 at age 11 when he was accepted into the Hungarian National Dance Academy. During his education, Béres was one of the four students chosen to perform with the Hungarian National Ballet. He was an apprentice in the company from age 14 until he graduated from the school in 2005. During his nine years of education, he had the privilege of training under many great teachers, including Zoltan Solymosi, who was a principal dancer with the Royal Ballet. Beres has performed in several countries in Europe, including Romania, Slovakia, Poland, Czech Republic, Austria and Italy. After graduation, he was offered a full scholarship with the North Carolina Dance Theatre in Charlotte, which brought him to the United States. He has danced with the Hungarian National Ballet, Slovak State Opera House, New Jersey Ballet and Carolina Ballet. He has performed several soloist and principal roles, including Firebird, Swan Lake, Don Quixote and many more. He retired as a soloist with Carolina Ballet in 2017 after dancing with the company for nine years. Béres is currently a full-time ballet teacher.
