Freestyle rap is more than a mere parlor trick. It can literally rewire your brain's connections and more. Join Eshod Howard aka Eternal the M.C. and Keith Cross aka Doctabarz for a scientific discussion about hip hop. Howard is president and co-founder of Cypher Univercity, and Cross is a lyricist, learning scientist and 2022 Peace Studio Fellow.

Cross will present his research on neurological, perceptual and learning adaptations in expert freestyle rappers, and Howard will discuss the real-life implications of such research in the hip hop community at NC State and beyond its walls.

The Talking Black in America documentary series and the Language Diversity Ambassadors are the event sponsors. NC State University Libraries provided support for the event.
