Free Event Add to calendarThe African American Cultural Center and NC State University Libraries invite the NC State campus and surrounding community to our first Black Research Symposium. The theme for the symposium is “The Power of Community: Afro-Diasporic Worldbuilding and a Sustainable Futurity.” As the first of its kind on NC State’s campus, the Black Research Symposium will feature Black diasporic learning and scholarship and Black epistemologies via cutting-edge research, storytelling, creative works, discussion, community-based projects and industry initiatives from the NC State campus and surrounding community. The symposium will take place on the following dates and times at the following locations:
Thursday, March 23, 2023, 1-7 p.m.
Witherspoon Student Center at the African American Cultural Center
Friday, March 24, 2023, 9 a.m.-7:30 p.m.
Hunt Library
Saturday, March 25, 2023, 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Our call for proposals is now open. You can submit a proposal by completing this form. We encourage students, staff, faculty and community members to submit a proposal before the Jan. 20, 2023, deadline. You can submit Interdisciplinary and multimodal research, community-based projects and cultural work in a variety of formats, including presentations; digital posters; workshops; panels; teach-ins; community discussions; photo essays; music demos; cyphers; art displays; multimedia presentations; performance; embodied movement; and more.
