About this Event
The Black Trans Liberation project began as a collaboration across the GLBT Center, Women's Center and African American Cultural Center. What was intended to be a one-time panel discussion in spring 2020 quickly grew into a multi-interview video project. Staff and student scholars have spent the last year reviewing interviews from more than 15 faculty, staff and community organizers who were asked this question: What is our personal responsibility for Black trans liberation? Utilizing qualitative research strategies, student scholars identified three key theme areas from the interviews and are helping to guide the creation of a 45-minute video teaching tool. Please join us for a review of the rough first draft of the video and a discussion around the best ways to utilize this work as a means to discuss Black Trans liberation and Black futurity.
