What are career chats?

Career chats are quick, focused discussions on key competencies that help students develop career readiness. These chats are open to all students and will feature a competency-driven scenario, complete with background information, possible challenges, and discussion questions. Join us for the fall 2024 career chats series!

What can I expect?

During these discussions, students can expect to discuss key questions and plan actionable steps that help them to develop vital skills and gain insights into how employers ask candidates to demonstrate career competency in interviews.

Why are they important?

Career chats provide students with the necessary tools and resources needed to successfully transition from education to the workforce. These skills will ensure that students can effectively navigate job searches, meet employer expectations, and contribute to professional settings all while boosting confidence and competitiveness to lead to better career opportunities.

What does it mean to be career-ready?

Being career-ready means demonstrating the core competencies–career and self-development, communication, critical thinking, equity and inclusion, leadership, professionalism, teamwork and technology—during interviews, in the field and throughout one’s career.
