JaNey Carrothers, an alumnus of NC State's College of Natural Resources, works for the Department of Navy in the United States Marine Corps as an environmental protection specialist and Comprehensive Environmental Training and Education Program coordinator. Carrothers does public outreach and education for environmental concerns and coordinates trainings for Marines and all personnel requiring trainings to safely conduct their jobs.

Carrothers previously worked for the Federal Emergency Management Agency as an environmental protection specialist and the Sound to Sea Environmental Education Program as an environmental educator.

Carrothers will be a guest speaker for Career Conversations. The 30- to 45-minute discussions are hosted by the Exploratory Studies program and allow students to connect with people working in a variety of industries to learn about their current occupational and professional experiences.
