Our everyday experience of size and scale is profoundly limited when considered in the grand scope of physical existence. A multidisciplinary team from the colleges of Design, Education and Engineering will share “Scale Worlds,” an environment that permits scaling up and down by powers of ten, from the size of a proton to a red supergiant star. In addition to a special version of Scale Worlds designed specifically for the Teaching & Visualization Lab, a presentation by the principal investigators will unpack the exciting design challenges inherent to visualizing dramatic size differences. Come expand your understanding of the sizes and scales of reality. Virtual reality headsets will be available after the talk so visitors can experience the VR version of Scale Worlds.
