Images capture our attention. Science communication is benefited by vibrant artwork which makes the message memorable. In education, the physical act of drawing improves learning. Content creators use visuals to develop and refine ideas. Yet not all visuals provide equal benefits. Jennifer Landin, teaching professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, teaches a course in biological illustration, researches the use of drawing in the classroom and analyzes the impact of imagery on viewers’ conceptions. Join Landin for a discussion about the many design choices that affect information conveyed by imagery.

Ladin's talk is part of the Coffee and Viz, a series that allows NC State researchers to share their visualization work and discuss topics of interest.
