DESCRIPTION:We hope you will pack up the family and join us for Family Day 
 at the College of Design.\n\nWe’ll have tours of the college and activit
 ies for young designers in collaboration with the Design Lab for K-12 Educ
 ation. Tours will start at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. and last approximately one h
 our. Learning sessions for middle school and high school learners lasting 
 an hour are also scheduled for 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.\, respectively. Please s
 ee the information below about the program. The middle school and high sch
 ool sessions require registration.\n\nFor K-5 Aged Learners (available and
  open to all learners for the entirety of Family Day)\nA range of creative
  activities will be available for elementary-aged learners. Learners can s
 pin our activity wheel and take on the design challenge they receive. Lear
 ners can also build their own scaled model of an adventure map for their f
 avorite character or try their hand at designing and building the tallest 
 structure they can with limited supplies to support the weight of a large 
 marshmallow. All creative activities will encourage and support learners
 ’ use of critical and creative thinking. \n\nFor Both Middle and High Sc
 hool Aged Learners: Inflatables\n\nMiddle school learners: 9-10 a.m. (limi
 ted to 20 spots)High school learners: 10-11 a.m. (limited to 20 spots)Infl
 atables is an open-ended design activity that focuses on 3D spatial reason
 ing. In this activity\, learners will use recycled materials and simple to
 ols to create inflatable creatures or sculptures. This activity is adaptab
 le for a wide range of age groups. For example\, our older learners can ma
 ke and test complex creations\, while our younger decorate a small bag and
  launch it off the fan. \n\nFor the middle school and high school sessions
 \, parents are able to leave their children with the DesignLab staff while
  they participate in activities and tour the college. \n\nPlease note we w
 ill ask parents to sign a liability and media release waiver for each chil
 d when they arrive at the College of Design.
