Free Event Add to calendarCommon Threads is a free media storytelling workshop series open to all NC State students. The series will have three sessions — interviewing, photography and video editing — and each session will have a hands-on activity. Students can attend any of the workshops and will leave with a finished piece (i.e., a recorded interview, a photo essay or a short video) or attend all three to build a more complete, layered story. Students who complete the full series will receive a certificate of participation. Prior experience is not required to participate.
The second workshop in the series is Interviewing, Threads of Voice. Participants will learn how to prepare, listen and record interviews rooted in respect and will record a story that centers another person’s voice. The workshop will cover:
This workshop series is a collaboration between Marginalia Making and Iximché Media, a digital content and audiovisual production agency based in rural North Carolina. Together, they seek to amplify diverse community voices through accessible, ethical, and creative media practices.
