The 2023 NC State Poetry Contest is now accepting entries. The annual contest is a free literary competition open to all North Carolina residents, including out-of-state and international students who are enrolled in North Carolina universities. It remains one of the largest free-to-enter poetry contests in the South.

This year’s guest judge is award-winning poet Khalisa Rae and features The Dorianne Laux Prize for Poetry, a $500 award. It also includes an Undergraduate Prize, a $100 award for NC State undergraduates. Go to the Department of English website to learn how to submit your entry and read the contest rules. The deadline for entry is March 1.
