At this month's Science Cafe at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, Xipeng Shen, a professor of computer science at NC State, will delve into how the two visionary scientists who won this year's Nobel Prize in Physics combined the principles of physics and computing to revolutionize AI.
Shen specializes in intelligent computing and his research contributions have earned him prestigious accolades. These include the Department of Energy Early Career Award, NSF CAREER Award, and Google Faculty Research Award. He is an Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Distinguished Member, ACM Distinguished Speaker, and a senior member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Shen co-founded CoCoPIE Inc. and serves as a consultant or advisory board member for leading IT companies such as Facebook, Intel, Microsoft, Huawei and Cisco.
