The story of the escalating challenges to books in Florida and Texas is the subject of a powerful new documentary by Oscar-nominated and Peabody Award-winning director Kim A. Snyder. The Librarians, screened at the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival in Durham earlier this year, portrays courageous librarians in both states who risk their careers, and in some cases their personal safety, to protect the freedom to read. The Librarians has garnered numerous jury and audience awards at festivals after its 2025 Sundance world premiere.

Join the NC State University Libraries for a screening of The Librarians and a panel discussion featuring Janique L. Robillard, the documentary's producer. The film's runtime is one hour and 32 minutes.

Robillard is an Oscar-nominated documentary producer and independent filmmaker. Robillard's film credits include producing Death by Numbers, which was nominated for a 2025 Academy Award in the best documentary short film category. Snyder directed Death by Numbers.
