https://gregg.arts.ncsu.edu/Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering students will present research documenting the maintenance challenges of the iconic Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park in Wilson at the Greg Museum of Art & Design.
The presentation schedule is below. Choose the session that fits your schedule. Both sessions will offer the same educational content
Students will present their research projections, using a live TV feed from Whirligig Park to illustrate how conservation challenges, such as monitoring wear or predicting failures, directly inform their research and solutions.
Participants can inquire about students’ methods, their findings and the engineering principles applied to conversation.
A member of the Gregg Museum education team will lead attendees outside for a focused tour of Vollis Simpson’s whirligig, Crossroads, on the front lawn, connecting the presented research to the physical kinetic sculpture.
