The Global Film Series will screen the first two episodes of Season 1 of Babylon Berlin. This epic crime drama, set during the Weimar Republic, the chaotic 15-year era that preceded the Third Reich, has become an international television sensation. Based on the best-selling novels by Volker Kutscher, the show centers on Gereon Rath, a police detective from Cologne played by Volker Bruch, who arrives in the unfamiliar capital to investigate a blackmail plot.

The show is rated TV-MA and contains material for mature audiences. The runtime for the two episodes is approximately 90 minutes. The show is in German with English subtitles.

Marcel Strobel, an assistant professor of German in the Department of World Languages and Cultures at NC State, will introduce the screening.

The Global Film Series is a collaboration between the NC State University Libraries and the Office of Global Engagement. This screening is supported by Centennial Campus Placemaking.
