During this special screening, NC State alumnae Darya Levchenko will introduce a series of 10 short animated films by Ukrainian filmmakers. With films ranging from Deep Water, about a lonely middle-aged mermaid who develops a passionate crush on a man, to DeepLove, which uses absurdity and black humor to chronicle a city during decommunization, this collection of films features a wide variety of topics and animation styles.

The screening is a celebration of Ukraine artists who are using animation to tell their stories. Levchenko will provide attendees with a historical perspective and context of the films through a short introduction and post-screening Q&A.

The screening is part of the Global Film Series, a partnership between the NC State University Libraries and the Office of Global Engagement. The NC State Film Studies Program, the Department of English and Interdisciplinary Studies are the event co-presenters.
