Designing an Equitable Future: Accessibility as a Design Requirement (for AI)

Technology—and increasingly AI—shapes how people learn, work, and make decisions under pressure. This talk explores why accessibility cannot be treated as optional, and how designing for real human conditions strengthens products at scale.

Angela Martin, User Experience Designer at Lenovo

Angela Martin is an Advisory UX Designer with Lenovo’s UXD Software group, where she helps shape inclusive digital experiences that reach more than 44 million monthly users worldwide. Her work includes product and service design for initiatives such as Lenovo Smart Care and global innovation programs. She is also co-founder of Design Storming LLC, a certified Humane Technologist, and an advocate for inclusive, human-centered design. Her passion for design began in middle school, when she first explored graphic design on a ThinkPad—an early connection to Lenovo that has now come full circle.

In her role, Angela leads cross-functional projects, mentors designers, and ensures accessibility and inclusive practices are embedded from discovery through delivery. She is known for translating complex technologies into approachable, human-centered experiences, from customer support platforms to real-time captioning and AI-driven tools.
