Join the Department of English for the NC State Literary Reading Series and NC State Fiction Contest Award Ceremony. Fiction writer and guest judge Halle Hill will read fiction and participate in a Q&A session in conjunction with celebrating winners of the 2025 James Hurst Short Fiction and Shorter Fiction contests. 

Hill is the author of Good Women, a critically acclaimed debut collection exploring themes of identity, place and resilience in the contemporary American South. Her short fiction has been translated into French and published in a range of literary journals, including Joyland, New Limestone Review, Southwest Review, Atlanta Magazine, Ursa Short Fiction and The Oxford American.
