Land acknowledgments are statements by institutions to recognize the impact their institution has had on Indigenous communities. These statements are the first steps for improving the access and success of Native students as well as supporting Indigenous faculty and staff.
The American Indian Advisory Council, comprised of representatives from across NC State, has been researching and developing a land acknowledgment for campus for the last four years. Partnering with NASA, AIAC and the Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity are putting forward a land acknowledgment to the SGA, Faculty Senate and Staff Senate.
