DESCRIPTION:The School of Public and International Affairs will host guest 
 speaker Frances Lee\, a professor of politics and public affairs at Prince
 ton University. Lee will discuss how the COVID-19 pandemic led to the grea
 test mobilization of emergency powers ever. In April 2020\, half the world
 ’s population — 3.9 billion people — lived under quarantine. The dev
 astating pandemic and the policies adopted in response to it upended life 
 as we knew it. Lee\, the co-author of In Covid's Wake: How Our Politics Fa
 iled Us\, will examine the role politics played in our responses and how o
 ur leaders and institutions could have performed better.
