Learning through Design: Identifying Contexts and Conditions for Learning through Design Participation at the Social Design Institute, University of the Arts, London
Presented by Dr. Maria Patsarika, SDI Research Associate
Dr. Patsarika will present the mission and activities of the Social Design Institute (SDI), University of the Arts, London, and discuss some key outcomes and learning out of a series of projects that she pursued as part of her postdoctoral research fellowship at SDI. Her research over the years has spanned areas of social learning, public sociology and participatory design, particularly in community and educational contexts. These interests interlock with one of the SDI's focus areas, that of systems in design, which looks into how designers can develop a better understanding of the contexts they design for and in.
The focus areas of SDI include Value and Valuation through Design; Systems and Design; Policy Contexts and Implications; and Practice Research in Social Design.
