Join the LGBTQ Pride Center as the center kickoffs LGBTQ+ History Month at NC State. The center will provide an opportunity to learn about various LGBTQ+ student organizations at NC State and to interact with those organizations.

LGBTQ+ History Month is celebrated annually in October. Rodney Wilson founded LGBTQ+ History Month in 1994 when he was a school teacher in Missouri. The monthlong observance occurs in October due to the month's significance to the LGBTQ+ community. The first March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights happened Oct. 14, 1979, and the second march occurred Oct. 11, 1987. Since 1988, the LGBTQ+ community has celebrated Oct. 11 as National Coming Out Day.
