Please join the College of Design for a MADTech lecture featuring Stella Rosalie Rosen, an experimental animator who was born in Urbana, Illinois, and lives in Durham. Since 2022, Rosen has worked as a visiting lecturer at UNC-Chapel Hill’s Department of Art and Art History. Her animated short films have been featured in festivals nationwide, including Cosmic Rays, the Carrboro Film Festival, the San Diego Underground Film Festival and the Bushwick Film Festival.

Rosen holds a Bachelor of Arts in biology from Oberlin College and a Master of Fine Arts in studio art from UNC-Chapel Hill. Rosen was the artist in residence at Shandaken: Governor’s Island in May 2023. In addition to her animation practice, she has created public art for the town of Chapel Hill and is an occasional shadow puppeteer with Deep Time Puppet Company.
