https://www.lib.ncsu.edu/events/making-space-graphic-medicine-and-zine-information-literacyMaking Space is an NC State University Libraries event series that features underrepresented groups in science and technology. Please join us for a talk and workshop featuring Donna Baluchi, equity, diversity and Inclusion librarian at Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library at the University of Utah. Baluchi will provide insight about her journey into medical librarianship. She will talk about her involvement in activism, arts and events like community-based music and art events. Baluchi will discuss her path to sciences and equity, diversity and inclusion librarianship.
Following the talk will be a workshop that builds off a workshop created by “comic nurse” MK Czerwiec. Baluchi's workshop will focus on zine making and graphic medicine, using comics to impact health sciences information. It focuses on encouraging students to use art as an information medium and a stress-relieving wellness tool. She hopes to showcase that anyone is an artist who can tell a story using comics with emphasis placed on the contributions anyone could have on medical innovation and information.
