Award-winning Jazz saxophone and woodwind artist Alexa Tarantino tours worldwide with some of the biggest names in jazz like Cécile McLorin Salvant and Wynton Marsalis. Before her March 1 concert in Stewart Theatre, Tarantino will lead a free jazz workshop for NC State student musicians. Tarantino's teaching philosophy emphasizes learning by ear to encourage creativity, communication and improvisation in music-making. She is currently on the faculty for the Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Education Programs, and she has served as jazz saxophone faculty at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Tarantino is founder and director of the Rockport Jazz Workshop.

Participants will receive a free ticket to Tarantino's concert.
