How does popular music engage with gender identity? In what ways have artists popular today -- including Beyonce, Lil Nas X, and Troye Sivan -- challenged the gender binary with their musical practices? In this session, we will consider songs by these artists and others to examine how, through musical means and visual language, each challenges listeners to think critically about gender.
