The African American Cultural Center, LGBTQ Pride Center, Women's Center, Multicultural Student Affairs and the NC State Libraries have joined together to host a semester-long book club. The club will read and discuss the award-winning book, Song In a Weary Throat by Pauli Murray, throughout the spring semester. A different student success center will host each month's book club session. The book club will visit the Pauli Murray Center.

The first 20 people to sign up for the book club will receive a free book and reading kit curated by the African American Cultural Center Library, Multicultural Students Affairs, the Women’s Center, the LGBTQ Pride Center and the NC State Libraries.

The book club sessions will take place:

  • Jan. 22 from noon to 2 p.m. in the LGBTQ Pride Center at Talley Student Union
    • Join us for a meet and greet and introduction to Song in a Weary Throat.
  • Feb. 5 from noon to 2 p.m. in the African Cultural Center Library at the Witherspoon Student Center
    • We will discuss chapters 1-3 and 7 and 8.
  • Feb. 24 from noon to 2 p.m. in Multicultural Student Affairs at Talley Student Union
    • We will discuss chapters 9, 11, 15, 16 and 19.
  • March 24 from noon to 2 p.m. in the Women’s Center at Talley Student Union
    • We will discuss chapters 20-22, 24-25 and 26. 
  • April 7 from noon to 2 p.m. in the Fishbowl at D.H. Hill Library
    • We will discuss chapters 27, 29-30 and 34.
