Marc Dudley, professor of English at NC State, will lead a discussion about A Farewell to Arms, a classic work of American literature written by Ernest Hemingway. Dudley is the editor of A Farewell to Arms: A Norton Critical Edition, which is set to be published by W.W. Norton in November.

Hemingway's book is a story about an American ambulance driver on the Italian front and his passion for a beautiful English nurse. Set against the looming horrors of the battlefield, Hemingway used his own experiences in World War I as an inspiration for his book.

The book discussion is part of Read Smart, a collaboration between NC State University Libraries and Wake County Public Libraries.
