In preparation for author Jenny Offill's March 28 visit to NC State, we will read and discuss Weather, Offill's novel about a Brooklyn wife and mother — a Ph.D. dropout turned university librarian — who takes a job answering listener letters to a climate change podcast.

Sally Parlier, a graduate student in NC State's Master of Fine Arts program, will lead the discussion. She is currently working on an Appalachian Gothic novel and co-authoring a monograph on horror film in the late Anthropocene. She is the inaugural winner of Redbud Writing Project's Coppice Prize, and her short stories appear in Seize the Press and elsewhere.

Read Smart is a collaboration between the NC State University Libraries and the Wake County Public Libraries.
