About this Event
Add to calendarJoin us for a discussion of Octavia Butler’s Kindred, her acclaimed 1979 novel. Alexis Briggs, a doctoral student in applied social and community psychology, will facilitate the discussion. Kindred tells the story of Dana, a modern Black woman who is teleported abruptly from her home in California to the antebellum South. Considered a sci-fi classic (though it defies genre characterization), the novel explores racism, sexism, violence and family bonds and identity.
