As we celebrate the Department of Communication's 50th anniversary at NC State, join the department for a special prerelease screening of A Life Reimagined: The George Masa Story. For almost 100 years, the story of Masa, a Japanese immigrant, has been a mystery. Emmy-winning director Paul Bonesteel (’87) takes viewers on an inspiring journey through the life of Masa, who was a mysterious photographer and pioneering figure in conservation who helped shape the legacy of America’s national parks. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Great Smoky Mountains, the filmmaker’s study becomes an obsession as he delves into Masa's unique blend of artistry and activism, revealing a vision and passion for nature that still thrives today, reaching all the way back to his homeland of Japan.
