Experience the power and precision of Taiko drumming at NC State University.

Join us Friday, Jan. 23, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Witherspoon Student Center in the Washington Sankofa Room for a dynamic Taiko drum performance by the Kato family.

Taiko drumming is a traditional Japanese art form known for its deep, resonant rhythms, synchronized movement and expressive energy. Rooted in centuries-old festival and ceremonial traditions, Taiko performances combine music, physicality and storytelling to create an unforgettable sensory experience.

The Kato family brings this tradition to life through powerful drumming, rich cultural heritage and a shared passion for performance. Whether you are new to Taiko or a longtime admirer, this event offers a unique opportunity to experience the artistry, discipline and joy of Japanese drumming right here on campus.
