Windows Into the Soul is an exhibition highlighting the powerful role that libraries, special collections and historical sites play in expanding access to African American and Afro-diasporic culture, knowledge and lived experiences. The exhibition will feature materials from Triangle-area libraries and special collections, including NC State and Shaw universities. It will showcase rare books, photographs, archival records, oral histories, creative works and community ephemera that illuminate the richness of African American life and expression.
The exhibition is part of the African American Cultural Center's celebration of National Library Week. Visitors of all backgrounds are welcome to come explore how libraries and archives preserve stories, expand access to knowledge and support deeper understanding across communities. The exhibit will be available to view April 8–10 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A closing reception that will feature remarks by exhibit partners will be held April 10 from noon to 2 p.m. Refreshments will be served at the reception. Student attendees will have a chance to win one of two Patron prize kits containing limited-edition AACC Library swag, a free book, library starter materials and more.
All are welcome to come see the exhibit and attend the reception.
