Chris Hondros was a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize for his 2002 photo of Liberian loyalist commander Joseph Duo exulting after firing a rocket at rebel militiamen during a battle for control of Monrovia, the Liberian capital. Hondros was killed on the morning of April 20, 2011, while photographing in Misrata, Libya. Hondros had a solo exhibition of his photography at the Gregg Museum of Art & Design in the fall of 2005.
Show and Tell videos examine a single object, offering an up-close tour or highlighting Gregg Museum special projects. This educational video will highlight one of Hondros' photographs in the Gregg Museum's permanent collection: Liberian Government Troops Push Back Rebels. The video will be available to watch on the museum's YouTube channel.
An exhibition of Hondros' photographs will be on display at the Gregg Museum from June 3-Jan. 9, 2022.
