An introduction to the various building blocks employed by all artists and designers in storytelling. We will spend one-third of the hour on how projections and video are able to forward the work of the actors and creative team members with world building. The final two-thirds of the workshop will focus on the use of QLab, an entertainment software package, used to bring art to life.

After decades of cities built for machines, will we return to cities built for humans? A changing climate and advancing technologies open doors to reimagine the future of transportation. Will We Build Cities for Humans or Machines? Writers will collaborate with a partner to draft a 10-minute play positioned within a "Future History" where society has successfully shifted our modes and means of transport to accommodate human and animal life in the Raleigh region. Winning plays will be read as a part of the spring's Hopeful Futures event.

This hands-on painting workshop will show you the basics of painting stone surfaces (as will be seen in UT's upcoming production of Metamorphoses!) as well as some cement and other stone varieties. Along the way you will learn some of the basic concepts about how scenic painters think and work, as well as how to breakdown and plan for your painting process. This is a hands on workshop so you will want to wear clothing you don't mind getting paint on, including shoes. Shoes must be close-toed (No sandles or crocs.) All needed materials will be provided and there's no experience necessary - Just bring your willingness to try new things and your enthusiasm!

An introduction to SketchUp for beginners. This workshop is perfect for beginners and folx with no formal training in 3D rendering and modeling. We will walk through the basics of how the program functions, it's tools, and basic workflow to get you started creating in 3D. We will work in SketchUp free online, so a laptop and mouse are needed to participate in the workshop.
